While I was at CompUSA one day… I came across the USB flash drive case made by Case Logic (model JDC6). Case Logic calls it the “Case Logic”. I thought what a neat idea. My USB flash drive collection is growing and carrying more than one is proving to be some what of a problem, so I bought the case.

The case is 5.25″ x 3.75″ x 1″m and weighs in at 4 oz, which makes for easy carrying. As the product name implies, there are 6 pockets and are made of a mesh material with elastic edges to keep a hold of the device placed in the pocket. The outside of the case is nylon. There is a zipper that goes around three sides of the case which opens like a book.

I think the case is designed for small to mid sized USB flash drive devices. All my USB flash drives, Swiss Memory Flight safe, MediaGear SD/MMC DIY USB thumb drive, PQI Intelligent Stick Flash Drive and Kensington Bluetooth dongle fit into the pockets. To my disappointment, my ePorter single card reader (the one with the brushed aluminum trim) does not fit the pockets.

A check of the Case logic website shows this model case as having neoprene and nylon on the outside, which leads me to believe that I may have bought an older design. The neoprene addition to the case does allow it to come in black, blue, grey and red colors. Also, Case logic offers a two and four drive configuration case. Of additional note, Case Logic is stating that the USB Drive Shuttle products carry a surprising 25 year warranty. One can only wonder if we will still use USB devices 25 years from now.

Overall, I am very happy with my purchase of the USB Drive Shuttle. The quality of the case construction, stitching, and materials are very good as with other Case Logic products I have purchased in the past. The pockets hold the devices securely and keep them separate so that they dont rub against each other to prevent scratches.

I have seen other peoples USB flash drives suffer damage from being carried on key rings and it isn’t pretty with results ranging from cracked cases to even dead electronics-which could mean losing your precious data. So, the price of $7.00 for the “6 Capacity USB Drive Shuttle” is very worth it to keep your USB flash drives organized, safe and cozy.

The Case Logic is available directly from the manufacturer as well as from other retailers.
