After writing the review for the Coghlan’s LED Micro Lantern, Coghlan’s offered to send me 2 new LED headlights to review.  Today I am going to take a look at the 0.5 Watt LED Headlight from Coghlan’s.

The wattage of this headlight is serious. If you need to be able to see anywhere you point your head at night, then you should get this light.

Coghlan's 0.5 Watt Headlight

There is a 0.5 Watt Nichia Rigel LED to provide the light.  It is powered by 3, yes I said 3 AAA batteries. When you slip the elastic band around your head and press the button on the top, it’s like daylight wherever you point your head. The headlight produces 20 lumens of light, for those who want specifics. Take it from me, it’s very bright.

I loved the fact that it was a headlight; I have always wanted to pick up one of these and now I am glad that I have a couple of them. These types of light are so convenient when you’re camping, because they allow you to use both hands when fumbling with the coffee pot at night or cleaning up the picnic table before climbing in your tent. It’s also handy for when you need to make that middle of the night run to the bathhouse to get rid of, well, I don’t think I need to spell this one out! 😀

Battery life is 9.5 hours when in solid mode, and 33 hours in the emergency flashing mode.

I like this headlight and I think it’s very useful for camping as well as hunting, fishing and other outdoors activities. It’s also handy to have in your car’s emergency kit.

Walmart.com has it for $16.94.

What I like: It’s very bright.  It’s almost too bright.

What needs improvement: Nothing needs to be improved.  If you want something not as bright, stay tuned for my next headlight review.
