Have you ever had to take pictures of something you were selling on eBay, but you kept getting a horrible glare from the flash  I have had this happen many a time, and I have even had to struggle with this when taking pictures of things I review.  Well, I will struggle no more now that I have the Digital Concepts Lighting Studio, sent to me from Sakar International.

As you can see by the picture, this is the smaller version of the studio suitable for taking pictures of smaller things like iPods, LED Headlights and Watches.  Here’s a picture from another review:

As you can see, this makes the picture look much better than the picture you will see later in the review of the inside of the lighting studio.  I wish I had a bigger version to use for this review! 😉

This is the small tripod included taken on the blue background.  The top picture of the review shows the gray background.  It’s easy to change back and forth between the colors with a simple flip.  I prefer the blue one as it usually has a higher contrast between the background and the devices I am taking pictures of.

Of course this is a portable lighting studio.  The whole thing folds up into it’s own case and it has pockets for the lights and the tripod.

Everything inside the case, all packed up.

As you can see, it is very small once packed up.  This takes no room in your studio and is nifty to have for taking pictures of small devices.  I just wish I had the bigger version, too!

As more and more people sell stuff on eBay, they will need to have better pictures to put on their auctions.  These lights help you take better pictures by just making sure there’s enough light.  The screens on the side help keep glare down.  The background colors also are sufficient for most eBay picture needs.  This studio is not a miracle worker, but it certainly does help and the price is right at .99 on Amazon.com.

What I liked: It was small.  Takes up no space in my office.

What needs improvement: Feels a bit cheap, but what do you expect for 40 bucks??  Similar sets of lights and background cost much more.  I have seen sets cost upwards of $1800!  For 40 bucks you can’t beat it.

I like it and will continue to use it.

  3. This is a great piece of equipment; I use it often.
However, I am now in need of a replacement bulb GU10-C 110V 20W.
I can find all kinds of these in just plain GU10 but none with C.
Anyone out there that can help me with locating this or a usuable substitute?
    Will appreciate any info.
