Gear Diary Coosh earbuds comfortable and affordable photo

Coosh is the first electronic product offered by Bic (except for their disposable cell phone sold overseas) – a company mainly known for pens and disposable lighters. Their Coosh earbuds are extremely affordable (starting at $19.99) and come with a flexible ear loop that helps ensure they don’t slip off your ears during exercise. So how do these stack up? Coosh sent us a pair for review and I’ve tried them out for several hours.

The Coosh earbuds are packaged in a reusable container. Removing them is a bit of a task but once removed they’re remarkably easy to place on your ear.

There are several styles of Coosh available. I tested the $24.99 pair that also includes a microphone for use with mobile phones. On my iPhone I was able to click on the connected microphone to both answer and hang up my iPhone (nice!).

Sound quality on the Coosh is good -though I found them less enjoyable at high volume levels. There was less bass and with full volume they slightly distorted and the music generally sounded a little flat to me.

With the volume at normal levels I found the earbuds to be a nice compliment to my iPhone.

I especially liked the built-in microphone so that I could accept and make calls without removing the earbuds. For those who use their earbuds while on the go – the Coosh is a great selection. In the states Coosh has enlisted the Seattle area break dancing crew Massive Monkees to endorse/test the earbuds as shown in this YouTube video:

Coosh is not for audiophiles – and I don’t think they’re designed to be. They are made for those who are active and looking for decent sounding earbuds that will stay on your ears while on the go. To that end, these Coosh earbuds fit the bill quite nicely. I would definitely recommend them for anyone looking for a solid pair of earbuds to wear while exercising. You simply cannot beat the value proposition of $24.99 for a set of earbuds with included microphone.
