Gear Diary Laptop Sleeve FAIL photo

Far be it from me to say anything to anyone about what they spend on their accessories, but doesn’t it seem silly to spend more for the case than you did for the laptop?  Just sayin’…

I have had a fascination with all types of gadgets and gizmos since I was a child, beginning with the toy robot that my grandmother gave my brother - which I promptly "relieved him of" in 1973. I have long been captivated by devices that did anything interesting or served a unique purpose - however silly. I can't tell you how everything works – but I am known world-wide for using a product until I have a full understanding of what it does, what its limitations are, and if it excels in any given area...or not.

Yeah, I agree; that’s a little ridiculous, but I know people like that, especially when it comes to gadgets.

They’ll spend the least amount of money possible to get an item like a computer, and then buy all kinds of cheap accessories that fail after 6 months, at which time they buy more cheap items to replace them. If only they had spent 10% more on the initial purchase, then all the upgrades and cheap-product-replacements wouldn’t have been necessary and they wouldn’t have spent more money on accessories than on the original purchase.

(And besides, for gadget lovers, we always spend more on accessories than the original item cost anyway.)

Come on now Judie, If Louis offered a reasonable case it would be easy to justify! Figure you’ll keep the case forever and just change the gadget that goes in it! In this case, I love my Dell Mini (Using it for this post!) But I know that in 6 months or less there will be a new version about the same size that will fit in the same case.. :-)

Neither one of us can talk about money on anything anyway… G,D,R

Ha! My thing is that if I were to spend $800 on a Louis Vuitton (or any other designer brand) laptop sleeve, it would be to hold my $2600 MacBook Air, not a $400 Dell. It just seems totally backward! ;-)

  • TrvlngDrew

Maybe that’s my problem, just spent $29.99 on a sleeve for my MacBook Air.. I must be going about this all backwards! :-)

    That’s it! ;-)

LOL! Makes ya think….the only case this difference is justified is when your putting a smartphone in a Vaja. You may have only paid $179-249 on it, but if you break it, it could be 2-3 times that to replace it.

Waiting for Vaja to make a G1 case! :D
