The news is spreading all over the interweb about the Android Marketplace now going paid. There are still a TON of free apps, but there are now a whole swath of games including Guitar Hero ($9.99). Here’s a pic of my G1.

In the Pic, we see Derek Jeter Pro Paseball for $4.99, BreakTheBlocks for $0.99, Block Breaker Deluxe for $3.99 and CSI:Miami for $4.99.
I am seeing more stuff especially in the game section. Developers like Square/Enix, Gameloft and a bunch of independents. Prices are at the lowest $0.99 and at the highest I have seen $14.95 for PowerVocab UltaPack.
It’s not just games either. Quickoffice for Android will let you view Word and Excel files on the G1. Not too bad at $7.99.
There’s still a metric ton of free apps and alot of the best apps are still free. Like Locale. Also, if you want a IRC app for the Android, look for fIRC. It’s still free and very good. Android IRC is $4.95.
Some fans are not happy across the forums, but overall, alot of people are pleased.
I myself say to the Open Source Android Developers, please make some GREAT apps as there’s alot of greedy developers wanting too much money for some apps (Android IRC is one). Also, Open Intents is all open source. They have OI Notepad, OI Shopping List and the OI Safe (password safe). They also have a donation page up and as soon as I get some extra bucks they are going to them!
March on Open Source developers as the competition is out there and it’s looking pretty good too.
