Gear Diary The ContourHD from VholdR: a Wearable HD Camcorder photo

The ContourHD from VholdR is billed as the World’s First wearable HD camcorder.  Aimed at action/outdoor enthusiasts, this diminutive unit can record 720p high definition video at 30 fps or standard definition video at 60 fps.  Yes, this unit can record your crazy action video on the 2 GB microSD card (included), or add your own up to 16 GB card – this is a self-contained system.  No need to have a camcorder with video-in, run a cable from the lipstick lens to the camcorder, and then find a place to stow the camcorder.

Simplicity of design is the hallmark of the ContourHD.  An oversized record button slides forward to start and back to stop the recording.  A 135 degree fisheye lens captures the scene and can rotate 192 degrees to be aligned via two lens mounted positioning lasers.  An internal microphone records the audio while limiting the wind noise.  Power is provided by a lithium ion battery.  The ContourHD is compatible with  the TRail mounting system from VholdR and a goggle and flat surface mount are included.  Several other mounting options are available including a handlebar and a helmet mount.
