Gear Diary Belkin Releases Headphone Adapter for iPod shuffle photo

I’ve written previously of my frustration that the new iPod Shuffle only works with the stock earbuds. They work and sound well enough but aren’t up to the standard of other headsets.

Well our favorite accessory companies are finally rolling out adapters that let you use any and every headset with the diminutive device. Belkin has jumped into the ring with their Headphone Adapter for iPod shuffle.

Retailing for $19.99 they should be available soon. Another image and the full press release follows…

(Compton, CA) – July 28, 2009 – With Belkin’s new Headphone Adapter for iPod shuffle, you now have the freedom to use the headset of your choice with your iPod shuffle. If you would like to use a headset other than the ones provided with the iPod shuffle, this Adapter will be ideal for controlling your music, since there are no controls on the iPod shuffle itself. The Headphone Adapter is equipped with controls that allow you to adjust volume, skip tracks, toggle between playlists, and hear a song title. The controls on the Headphone Adapter conveniently work the same way as those on the earbuds that are included with the iPod shuffle.

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him.
