Do you own DVD’s? If so you probably have some that you barely watch, that seemed like a good idea to buy at the time, or even that are still in shrink-wrap! Want to get some value out of those old DVDs? Let me clue you in on a new way to do just that!
Popular video-game trading site Goozex has just launched a DVD trading section of their site. The option launched this week, and after a few days of extremely heavy traffic slowing down the site, things have stabilized and settled down.
Goozex is super excited to announce the beta launch of DVD & Blu-Ray trading this summer! Get your stacks of movies that you thought you’d watch over and over again, but really only saw once ready for swapping, Goozex style. The site is giving members the best value for their movies to trade for points. And just like game trading, you just need points and one token to get movies. The points you earn for game trades can be used for DVDs and Blu-Rays, and vice versa.

The site is extremely easy to use – you just search or browse for the items you want and select the proper format and choose ‘Want It’. You can find tons of cool movies in DVD, Blu-Ray and UMD formats, with collector’s editions and other special packaging called out. You will need to have your account filled with points (either bought or gotten by sending out games and movies) and Trade Tokens (one for each item you get, and bought for $1).
For me, aside from being amazed at how quickly the site has filled with available movies – I already have Nightmare before Christmas coming for my older son and Coraline for my younger son – I was struck by the quick availability of UMD movies. In case you weren’t aware, UMD is the proprietary mini-dick format Sony uses in the PSP that has been largely ignored outside of games. I have avoided buying movies because the pricing was atrocious – for example, I wanted Tron for a business trip but it was $25! I recently bought it on eBay, and am thrilled that so many UMD listings have shown up.
Since many gamers are avid consumers of all sorts of media, you will find just about everything from action to romantic comedy to TV series to anime. Since Goozex is a family friendly site, there is one thing you WON’T find, and that is ‘pr0n’.
If you have a box of unused DVD’s gathering dust, this might just be the way to replace them with things you are interested in getting!
