Gear Diary has reviewed a few different options for viewing your web cameras remotely. If you want to view your web or IP security cameras via your mobile phone, then Shape Services’ Mobiscope may be just the application you are looking to use. Unlike some options that require a monthly subscription fee, like Total Control, Mobiscope is a one-time fee. Mobiscope for BlackBerry has recently been updated to support real-time audio for your webcam streams.

Now you can check up on your home while you are at work or on vacation, make sure the dog’s not eating the couch, or just check out some of the public web camera streams (like the ones below).

At $29.95, Mobiscope is not cheap — but if you want to view your webcam or networked IP cameras easily from your BlackBerry, this application will be well worth the price. It is easy to install, and worked without a hitch. The menu options to add your own camera (by network camera address or your computer address) are straight forward and simple. You will need to download a desktop application on the computer you want to use with your webcam to stream the video to your BlackBerry (which can be downloaded for free from www.mobiscope.com). Before you ask — yep, the desktop application is both Mac and PC compatible
.
If you are “on the fence,” there is a free 7-day trial available from Shape Services. Mobiscope is also available for other mobile platforms, including the iPhone, Windows Mobile, and Android.
