Shooting video directly from your mobile phone can be incredibly handy. Even if the results do not equate to the quality of a dedicated camcorder, chances are you will have your mobile phone with you to capture the moment. While many phones will let you record video, the thing that sets the iPhone so far apart from the pack is the wide variety of — you guessed it – apps. These apps bring even more video recording features to your iPhone 3GS .
There seems to be an application for just about anything you can think of available for the iPhone. Now you can add another one to the list: Creating time-lapse movies directly from your iPhone. No shooting video then loading it to your computer and using a separate software package on your Mac or PC to edit and painstakingly put it all together to create a time-lapsed video masterpiece. Now you can do it all using Timelapser.
As the video above (taken by Josh Lowensohn of CNet) shows, the results can be very good — and very cool. The Timelapser application allows you to take a picture at a designated interval — say, once every 30 minutes down to every 3 seconds. Timelapser then stitches the photo frames together and saves the time-lapse “movie” on your iPhone. You can then can email the end-product out to friends or post it on your favorite social networking sites, such as Twitter or Facebook.
Timelapser is available from iTunes for $0.99.
