Gear Diary Well Hello There... New Around Here? iTunes 9.1 Out and Ready For iPad... photo

The expected new version of iTunes is out now and available. No surprise here… It syncs with the iPad and adds support for iBooks. It also lets you have more control over your Genius Mixes by letting you rename, rearrange and remove them. That is, of course, if you even USE the Genius Mixes feature.

It is ready and waiting right now…

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him.

I like Genius Mixes, but every time I let them sync with my iPhone, the covers displayed with my videos in my iPod app get messed up. (e.g., instead of showing the movie poster for “Sherlock Holmes,” it shows the icon for, I dunno, the “Alt Rock” genius mix. Annoying.) So I gave up on them.
