|Stephen Gets a Free iPad|
Who says you can’t make calls with an iPad? Seriously, sure it doesn’t have a phone in a traditional sense But it does make calls, thanks to apps like Truphone.
Truphone, who was first to officially launch a mobile VoIP calling application for Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch platforms, has already released a version for the iPad. With it you can make free calls to other Truphone and Google Talk users over Wi-Fi. International calling to mobile phones and landlines is as low as 5 cents a minute. Moreover, if you plan to use it a lot, Truphone also offers an unlimited calling plan and free voicemail.
It is also worth noting that the application provides a combined Truphone and IM contacts list showing on-line status and presence, “together with an innovative, multi-chat IM interface for AIM, Google Talk, and MSN users”. This means you can stay on top of your contacts list without opening multiple windows.
The app is available now. The full release follows.
