Gear Diary New PC Gadgets Announces Their Pedestal Base for iPad photo

It is no surprise that I have already begun accessorizing my iPad. And why not since the right accessories make using the device (any device) much easier and better. I got the Apple iPad case, the dock and the keyboard dock. Personally I’m finding that both docks hold the iPad at a bit too much of an angle for my liking. The Apple iPad case does a better job by placing the iPad at something close to a 30 degree incling and in landscape.

We new accessory, the Pedestal Base, is coming from NewPC Gadgets and it holds the iPad at what looks to me to be the perfect angle for typing and reading what is on the screen. Better still, it is priced right. The company described it as…

The new Pedestal Base for the iPad has the same look and feel as the expensive acrylic bases that Apple features in their retail outlets. Now you can have that same look at home or office when displaying your brand new iPad. The Pedestal Base will improve the performance of your iPad and display it in style.

We have designed the Pedestal Base to match Apples own viewing preferences. In addition, we added a couple of new features including, an open slot to hold excess cables, a rear hole to route your charging cable through, and non-skid pads to elevate your iPad to increase ventilation and reducing slipping. Just like the Apple displays, you can position your iPad in either the horizontal or vertical position.

The Pedestal Base is 6″ wide by 6″ long. Your When placed on top of it the iPad is raised 2″ in the rear and 1″ in the front in order to create the right viewing angle. The Pedestal Base retails for $29.95

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him.

I wonder which would work better on an airplane tray table: the iPad at a 30 degree angle, or at whatever angle the dock puts it at?

I wonder if it’ll fold up and can be easily stored. A good dock is definitely essential for the iPad :) Hope you post when you find the perfect on for you :) *
