The new iPhone officially launched today. A few, ok a lot, of folks who preordered their phones directly from Apple though were lucky enough to receive their phones yesterday, a day early.
Are you stuck in line waiting for you new iPhone 4 right now?
We’re seeing a lot of different “issues” pop up on some of these devices. It seems to me many more so than with previous iPhones. That’s not to say that more iPhones are having problems but that there seems to be a larger amount of different issues with the new phones.
Getting a new iPhone 4? Here’s a round-up of what to check for.
Yellowing screen: Many users are reporting a yellowing tint in certain areas of the iPhone 4′s retina display. We’ve seen pictures showing it looking like a straight line of yellow tint across the bottom of the screen to as little as a dot in the corner.

Calls Dropping When Outer Band Held: Users are reporting that they are experiencing large signal degradation when they hold the iPhone but its outer stainless steel band. The band houses the antenna and was touted by Apple as one of the phone’s best features and one that would actually improve reception.
Not Scratch Proof: After hearing Apple tell us how strong the iPhone 4′s front and back glass displays are I was all set to leave my new phone naked and unprotected. That is until I saw the photo below of Engadget’s Editor in Chief Josh Topolsky’s iPhone 4. He used it for about a week to write a review and sure enough developed some pretty big scratches on the back. To the iPhone’s credit the scratch isn’t noticeable in day to day use and only seen under direct light but it’s there nonetheless.

Don’t drop it: Apple told us the Gorilla Glass on the front of the screen is tough and it is. But it’s not so tough that a few drops won’t cause it to shatter as the iFixYouri.com test proved.

It took a few attempts but it wasn’t long before the newly purchased iPhone 4′s lovely front display was rendered useless.
No White Model Available: When the iPhone 4 became officially available for pre-ordering back on June 15th many of us were surprised that the white version was not available. Apple gave no reason why until yesterday.
Apple’s official statement on the white version doesn’t reveal much except that the white phone should be available sometime in July.

So if you got a new iPhone 4 I hope you’re enjoying it and I hope it isn’t suffering from any of the above issues. I have to say my unit is functioning quite well, and I personally don’t see any of them, yet (knocking on wood.)
Is your new phone suffering any problems like the ones above? Or is it just fine? Leave us a comment below……….
