It’s no secret we’re all big fans of Vibram Five Fingers around here. Of course, the biggest fangirl is Judie, who now owns KSOs, Bikilas, AND Sprints. Looks like all of our wallets will be a bit lighter in 2011, as Vibram announced some seriously sweet shoes at the Outdoor Retailer conference!
First up are the Bikila LS, basically a Bikila (Vibram’s running shoe) with laces. Helpful if velcroing your feet into your shoes makes you feel five, or if you have issues with getting your toes to seat properly in the traditional closed top models. Another benefit: if your feet tend to swell on long runs you can more easily adjust the fit comfortably using laces.
Then there’s the Komodo Sport, designed for all around athletics. The color schemes are a bit loud, but maybe the idea is to distract your opponent in a one-on-one basketball game with your frighteningly bright shoes. In any case, they sound more versatile than even KSOs, so I may have to get past the garish looks and justify ordering a pair…
The only one I’m not drooling over is the Jaya. It looks like a beefed up Performa, basically a casual Vibram shoe. Not my style, but they might look better in person. On the upside, they cover more of your foot than the Vibram Classics.
And if you have kids, you can buy them Vibram Kids shoes too! The concept is cute, but I know adults who have to wrestle their feet into Vibrams…hopefully the kids ones aren’t a huge pain to get on and off!
You may be wondering why we talk so much about Vibram Five Fingers at Gear Diary…but think about it this way: Vibrams are all about the human foot, which is an awesome natural gadget! So what Vibrams do you plan on adding to your collection? Or are you still scared by the idea of toe-shoes? Share your thoughts below!
