The Galaxy Tab has been out for several months now and, while it has not gotten nearly the amount of press attention that the iPad did–what possibly could short of, I dunno, planet-wide apocalypse?–it has gained considerable notice and attention in the geek world. (Your faithful GD folks have been discussing it a lot on Twitter in the last few days, too!) And now that attention is penetrating a little bit into more mainstream locations.
For example, just today I saw not one but two stories on the Tab on one of my favorite web sites: Salon.com. If you’re unfamiliar, Salon is a general-interest news and lifestyle site, not unlike the Huffington Post, but less sensationalistic, a lot older, and (in my opinion) a heck of a lot better. Salon occasionally features posts by well-known folks on different topics, and today they featured Dan Gillmor of Wired posting on the Tab. Gilmore posted:
I think they’re both pretty interesting posts, so if you’ve been wondering about the Tab and what another opinion, this time from a person who’s been using one for a bit, give them a look. Tell ‘em Doug sent you. (At which point they’ll say, “Who?!”)
Not to mention that no fewer than three of our intrepid Gear Diary folks are expecting to bring Galaxy Tabs with them to CES and provide thoughts on how that went. (Including Dan and Larry as part of their SeV no-luggage charity challenge.)
