As a huge fan of Angry Birds, I have come to love puzzle/physics games. I really enjoy the thought process to release an item on the screen to begin a series of events that solves a goal. The games take planning, critical thinking and a bit of skill. As I searched the app store Clowning-Around caught my eye reminding me of the Atari 2600 game Circus. Upon further inspection, it actually reminded me of Cut The Rope and Angry Birds all rolled into a cool circus theme. Let’s take a look at Clowning-Around for the iPhone/Touch.
Roll up, roll up, the circus is in town.
Here is everyone’s favourite act, clowns!
With a variety of novelty contraptions and toys, can you help the clowns with their act and get each and every one of them soaked by dunking them in a barrel of freezing cold water! Brrr!
Blast the clowns around with cannons, tilt them on seesaws, bounce them off trampolines and teleport them with the assistance of the magicians hats to get all of the clowns in the barrels.
With special appearances from the juggling clown, the mini-train driver and the devilish Jetpack Sam, there are some very special acts in store for the audience of this circus.
This wonderfully colourful and vibrant physics game is challenging and great fun for all the family. Highly addictive yet simple game play can keep you going for hours!
With 75 levels, 5 different acts and 3 different game modes including timed and arcade mode, the fun doesn’t stop.
Now get out there and let’s pull off the show of a lifetime.
Clowning-Around is set up similar to Angry Birds containing acts with 15 levels. Each act has a similar theme but each level will require a new set of tasks to complete. The levels are completed by guiding the clowns into a barrel of water. The clowns are in a ball ready to roll, bounce and swing to get dunked into the barrels of water. As the levels progress, clowns of different colors will be added and must be dunked into the barrel with the corresponding color markings.
Anything hanging from a chain can be moved by swiping across the chain releasing the item which may be a clown or a star ball. The item will fall and react to the environment. Some items may have multiple chains which will swing, drag or drop the item in various directions. Each level will take planning on what to cut first, but move quickly as time begins when the level starts. The level can be restarted if you make a mistake, but keep those to a minimum since points are deducted every time a level has to be played over.
I have loved the level design and imagination taken into creating the levels and tasks. Many levels are fairly difficult and will require some thought as well as timing. Clowning-Around is already a great game, but with continued updates and added levels, could become a game that can be played for a long time. If you enjoy thought provoking physics games with fun graphics, then check out Clowning-Around here in the app store for free.
What I like: Fun imaginative levels that require thought and planning.
What could be improved: Just keep the levels coming!
