Customize sleep times and more from a young age to the teenage years with the ZAZOO KiDS™ Digital Photo Clock, which also features different color styles, photos, videos, and music that are set by the back button or the remote.

From the Website

The ZAZOO photo clockTM  is the contemporary multi-functional answer for your early riser.  For young children who wake too early or do not stay in bed all night, this is the solution for you.

Parents get more sleep!  Kids get more sleep!

The ZAZOO photo clock is easy to read.  When the photo alarm “goes off” the image changes.  The digital time is also displayed on the face of the photo clock.  Your child will quickly be able to associate the image changing to the time displayed.

The clock comes with two pre-programmed image sets of “awake” and “asleep” photo options that help your child know when it is the appropriate time to stay in bed or get up and start the day.

You can easily personalize the awake and asleep images so your own child is the star.   Just upload your personal pictures and then select.  It is simple.  Kids will love to see themselves in pictures on their photo clock.

The photo alarm has two settings so the photo alarms can be easily set for a nap-time setting and a night-time setting.

The clock grows with your child providing a cool, modern accessory for older kids too!  Big kids love the rotating photos and music player.

Do you kids love to see pictures of friends and family?  Just upload photos and set to rotate.

The colorful, fun frames look great in children’s bedrooms.  There are five styles available.

What’s in the package

The ZAZOO KiDS™ Digital Photo Clock comes with a power cord, instruction manual, USB cord, the clock with a 7-inch LCD screen, and remote control, which might be an easier interface for some people instead of the button in the back of the clock.

Features

The new digital ZAZOO KiDS™ Digital Photo Clock (or Digital Photo Frame according to description on the back) has rotating photo frame, audio/mp3, clock + calendar, alarm clock, and video features. It weighs a little over two pounds and measures 8 inches wide and 5.5 inches tall. Two speakers are located in the back and there is a retractable kickstand-type stand on the back bottom. There are five device ports for downloading your media to the clock located on the side. Basic settings or complimentary customized media can add more sleep structure and even keep kids in bed longer.

The internal memory is 128 MB and the flash drive capability is 8 GB, so be sure to check music and video file sizes before downloading them to the device. The first port, moving left to right, works for SD (up to 4 GB)/MMC/MS, and xD media cards. The downloadable music options can also include audiobooks, so media savvy customizers could even add other children’s audiobooks (e.g. Light Up Your Brain) or a personal reading of a child’s favorites book on the clock. The second slot is for headphones, then the next one works for USBs. The fourth slot works for special mini USBs and the final slot is reserved for the power cord – required for the photo clock to function.

A cordless option would be better in some situations, but having the AC power cord always plugged in makes media downloads safer and more stable.

The review

The main frame features a sturdy snap-on top while the 7-inch screen is for display only and does not have any touch screen interface options, which is ideal for this particular clock because young ones would be trying to change setting or interact with it instead of going to sleep. The top can come apart when dropped, especially on its corner, but easily snaps back on.

The sunrise and nighttime icons prompt wake up times and sleep times. These icons work with set times for wake ups and bedtime. Settings can also be made for nap times. Wake up, bedtime or naptimes can be set on the clock can be set with pictures or ringing alarm option, which is highly recommended for the later teenage years. The sun and moon icons or pictures visually prompt young ones who may not be able to tell time yet.

The carefully chosen picture options are helpful in several situations. For example, kids can wake up from nap time to a picture of the adult they will be with or whoever is picking them up to bring them home. Slide show options are also available.

The small remote control and back button on the clock can be used for settings. This small remote is the perfect size for older kids and adults who may prefer this interface instead of using the buttons on the clock back. Kids cannot easily access to the back buttons on the clock, but older kids and adults will have a definite learning curve. Two smaller circular buttons for the power and menu buttons are located above and below the main button set, which is actually another small play/pause button on the inside of a wider outer button ring that controls the volume and rewind/fast forward functions.

This clock has five different design styles are pink peace signs, blue peace signs, pink stars, green number design, and white. Interchangeable and customizable frame templates would have been a welcome addition while adding extra value and interest to the clock. Specially measured blank paper templates could have been a great art project for kids that might have added more attachment/interest to the clock. Made in China. Recipient of 2011 awards from The National Parenting Center and the Parent Tested Parent Approved organizations.

MSRP: $89.99 suggested retail price

What I Like: Multi-functions, progressive age range possibilities, outside media incorporation/customization

What Needs Improvement: customizable “snap-on” frames would have been nice, no cordless option
