Gear Diary Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10 Land in the Mac App Store photo

If you are looking for something that offers a bit more than iPhoto or iMovie but without breaking the bank, Adobe’s Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements have always provided a great choice. Of course, as there is no real alternative to iLife on the PC, those apps are an excellent choice for anyone wanting to manipulate photos and video on that platform.

Over the last few weeks I have been testing out Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements and will have a review soon, but today Adobe announces the availability of Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements on the Mac App Store, bringing with it the ease of installation and updating Mac users enjoy with that store!

Adobe today announced the immediate availability of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor and Adobe Premiere Elements 10 Editor in the Mac App Store, providing Mac users with powerful, easy-to-use tools for bringing photos and videos to life. Based on Adobe Photoshop software, Photoshop Elements 10 Editor helps turn everyday memories into sensational photos. Premiere Elements 10 Editor leverages industry-standard Adobe Premiere Pro technology to turn video clips into impressive movies.

Making Photos Pop
This special edition of Photoshop Elements 10 utilizes intelligent technology, available in the full version of the No. 1 selling consumer photo-editing software, Photoshop Elements, that makes creating amazing photos a breeze. With new innovations, Guided Edits make achieving stunning photo effects approachable helping users create a shallow depth of field or design a fun layout of snapshots with Picture Stack, or even add a dream-like diffused glow with the Orton effect through easy to follow steps.

New text functionality, which scrapbookers will especially love, allows users to add curving, flowing text to a photo that automatically follows the outline of a subject, custom path or shape. Special crop guides now help users at any level easily achieve interesting, visually appealing compositions. Also, the Smart Brush lets users paint unique effects onto specific areas of photos and now features 30 new effects like Pencil Sketch and Oil Pastel.

Impressive Techniques for Creating Incredible Movies
Featuring editing capabilities available in the No. 1 selling consumer video-editing software, Premiere Elements, this special edition of the software is an inexpensive and easy-to-use solution that empowers users to turn a collection of video clips into lasting movie memories. Enhancing visual clarity for video is now easier with Photoshop’s color correction technology applied to video, including new one-click tools and pro-style corrections for perfect color throughout each movie. New InstantMovie themes automatically create compelling videos in seconds by intelligently editing together video clips with coordinated music, titles and effects.

Users can turn individual photos into entertaining videos by taking advantage of pan and zoom motions to add drama and interest. Automated options do the work of finding faces using content-intelligent face detection to pan and zoom to the most important elements of a photo – the people. Once movies are complete, users can share them with friends and family via Facebook and YouTube.

Pricing and Availability
Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor and Adobe Premiere Elements 10 Editor can be downloaded from the Mac App Store immediately worldwide for US$79.99 (each) or the local currency. The apps are available in English, French, German and Japanese.

I have loved technology for as long as I can remember - and have been a computer gamer since the PDP-10! Mobile Technology has played a major role in my life - I have used an electronic companion since the HP95LX more than 20 years ago, and have been a 'Laptop First' person since my Compaq LTE Lite 3/20 and Powerbook 170 back in 1991! As an avid gamer and gadget-junkie I was constantly asked for my opinions on new technology, which led to writing small blurbs ... and eventually becoming a reviewer many years ago. My family is my biggest priority in life, and they alternate between loving and tolerating my gaming and gadget hobbies ... but ultimately benefits from the addition of technology to our lives!
