Gear Diary Sena Creativo Pouch for the iPhone 4S review photo

I have never been a huge fan of smartphone pouches preferring, instead, cases that protect the device full-time. After all, at the moment you pull a phone from its pouch you remove it from its protective enclosure and suddenly face the possibility that the now-exposed device will tumble to the ground. Kind of defeats the purpose doesn’t it?

But what if you had a pouch that was (a) so nice you wanted to find a way to use it and (b) was designed in such a manner as to reduce the frequency of having to remove the phone in the first place? That is exactly what Sena has done with the Creativo Pouch for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S so lets take a look.

So there you have it. The Sena Creativo is the first iPhone pouch in quite some time that I really want to use. Yes, it does fall short in one specific regard but, overall, it is a beautiful pouch that I enjoy using. And if Sena were to make it possible to activate the Home button (and hence activate Siri) while the iPhone was still in the pouch they would reduce the frequency of needing to remove the iPhone from it even further. You can check out the various colors and order yours here on the company website.

MSRP: $39.99

What I Like: Beautiful leather; Great build quality; Classy; Available in four colors; Ability to take calls without removing the iPhone

What Needs Improvement: I wish you could activate the Home button with the iPhone still inside the pouch

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him.
