The Encore comes as a one-piece unit. The round aluminum base is a solid ring of aluminum. The adjustable arm is a high-quality black plastic. The same material rings the interior of the base. If you look carefully you will see a bit of a lip toward the front of the stand. This holds the tablet and keeps it from slipping forward. It is a simple, but effective design.

The underside of the base is a soft black rubberized material. It keeps the Encore from sliding around even on a glass surface. It also keep the Encore from scratching delicate surfaces.

Here’s a view of the stand from the side with the arm fully extended. In this position the tablet would be at its steepest angle- perfect for viewing a movie.

By lowering the arm you can get a more shallow pitch which makes it good for typing.

Here’s another look from an angle. As you can see, the black partial ring on the inside of the base comes up just enough to hold the tablet in place.

A view from the top.

The Encore looks like a piece of art but it has all the functionality you want and need in a tablet. I do wish the stand gave a slightly more shallow angle so that typing on the iPad was even more comfortable but it is enough to type on. I love the flexibility of the Encore. It is one piece, it is simple to use and it works well. If you are looking for a great stand for use with your tablet the JustMobile Encore should definitely be on your short list. You can learn more and order it here.

MSRP: $59.95

What We Like: Looks great; Easy to use; Easy to adjust; Works with a variety of different tablets

What Needs Improvement: I wish the stand adjusted even a bit further to make for an even more shallow typing surface

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him.
