It’s always interesting to see which celebrities will put their name on a particular product, but it’s even more interesting when a celebrity decides that rather than put his name on a product, he’ll just create his own company. That’s what 50 did; he is the CEO of SMS Audio, and every product they produce is designed so that his  “fans [can] hear my music the way it was intended – the way it was mastered in the studio.” Well, then.

– Professionally tuned 11mm driver
– Crystal clear sound
– Ergonomically designed- Apple® control mic with volume control
– Reinforced cables
– Gold-plated connectors

The new STREET by 50 in-ear wired headphones are ergonomically designed to “give users a perfect fit, the STREET by 50™ in-ear wired headphones utilize professionally-tuned drivers and gold-plated connectors.” The in-ear headphones feature “a reinforced cord with flat design to eliminate twisting, tangling and knotting” (LOVE!) and they have an “Apple© control microphone with volume control so listeners can control the volume of any device, or take advantage of the full controls – volume, fast-forward, rewind, track skip – if using with an Apple© iPhone, iPad or iPod device.”

SMS Audio also offers over-ear wired headphones and over-ear wireless headphones. The STREET by 50 in-ear wired headphones are available in either black or white; both have blue accents.

These look awesome.  But $120?  My iPod touch was only $200.  I think people/companies are charging too much for headphones.  I’m sure they sound good and they have great features, but come one, I can’t pay more than 1/2 of my iPod for headphones.

    • Yeah, they are pretty pricey. I would like to try them, but I would also be using them with my iPhone, or the Lumia 900, or other devices that are four or five times as much. That puts it a bit more into perspective for me, but I haven’t pulled the trigger on a set yet, either.
