I love the cool product mashups that have been increasingly common these days. Just as chocolate and peanut butter go together to make a delicious peanut butter cup, so too can two other seemingly different products combine to do something neat. For example, Nokia and Warner Bros. have teamed up for an exclusive partnership that brings the awesome Nokia Lumia smartphones together with The Dark Knight Rises. That partnership kicks off today (in the US) with the launch of The Dark Knight Rises (TDKR) mobile app. It is exclusive to Nokia Lumia devices and can be found here. The app lets fans access film trailers, behind-the-scenes video footage and exclusive TDKR wallpapers and audio tones.

It also features an immersive TDKR game, ‘Claim Gotham City’ in which people choose sides – Batman or Bane – and and then claim and defend real-life places through Foursquare check-ins. (I kinda like this idea and would love to see it on a larger scale than just one family of devices!!) Of course prizes, in the form of exclusive content, will be part of the fun!

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him.
