This is a really interesting device and I think it will definitely compete well with the Kindle Fire (even though I thing Amazon’s ecosystem is stronger). For me personally, it’s lacking components eat away too much at the value of the device – no rear camera (probably not a big thing for most people), no GPS, no cellular, no external SD storage, very limited storage (forcing folks to the cloud too much I think), and really bland styling – all these things make me concerned that it won’t seem like a great value.

What will be interesting here is to see what MS really brings to the table (too many specs are unknown yet). The style of surface is interesting and it brings a couple of new things to the game so we will see where they go with it and how that impact the overall market. In any case, it’s going to be an interesting fall – MS Surface, Google tablets, iOS6, a new iPhone, Jellybean – yup – a very interesting fall!
