When it comes to protecting our various devices, there are a few companies upon which we tend to rely. Of course there is the old standby Zagg, there is our newsletter underwriter Bodyguardz and there is Wrapsol. We reviewed various offerings from each company and have, for the most part, been impressed by all of them.

Which you choose to use has a great deal to do with price, the application process, and the specific offerings for each device. We have upcoming reviews of two skins from Bodyguardz, but in this review we will look at Wrapsol’s Protection Bundle for the MacBook Pro with Retina Display. This review, however, will be a bit different. Why? Read on to find out.

I have WrapSol’s protective backing on my tester iPad and am quite satisfied with it. The protection went on easily, for once I have no bubbles beneath a protective film, and the slight texturing of the film adds to the ease with which I can grip my iPad. It is a keeper!

That’s why I was excited when the company reached out to Judie and me with about reviewing their MacBook Pro Protection Bundle. They sent one, but the day it arrived a funny thing happened. You see, my buddy Dimitri called me and asked what I was doing to protect my new laptop. He too had ordered one and he was worried about getting scratches and causing other damage to it. Waterfield had overnighted me a sleeve for mine, so I felt rather secure that my new laptop was okay for the time being. He sounded rather… stressed… so I invited him to take the Wrapsol review sample, put it on and provide some review feedback.

That’s just what he did.

Dimitri’s review of Wrapsol’s Protection Bundle for the MacBook Pro with Retina Display.

When you spend over $2,000 on a MacBook Pro Retina, the first thing that comes to my mind is protecting it from all of those easy to get scratches. Wrapsol, an American manufacturer of screen protectors recently launched its newest product, the Wrapsol protective film wrap for the Macbook Pro Retina. I’ve had a chance to try this product on my new Retina Macbook and, as expected, the Wrapsol film fits perfectly in all the right places. Because of that it does not disrupt any ports or hinder normal operations.

The wrap is applied to the cover, underside, wrist rest, and trackpad. It doesn’t wrap around the outside edge of the laptop but what it does cover it protects well.

The protective film feels a little gritty to the touch which provides a nice tactile feel when holding the laptop. Because of it, your laptop is less likely to slip out of your hands.

Company Video of the Application Process

Application was fairly easy since Wrapsol provides the spray-on application liquid. It makes sliding the various pieces into their proper location a breeze.

Once you squeeze all the extra liquid out from under the wrap it takes just a few minutes to dry.

Mail Dimitri’s “custom” edging

I’m pretty confident there won’t be any scratches on my laptop where the film is placed. I do, however, wish that they created some pieces for the outside edge of the laptop. Because of this “missing piece” I actually skipped putting the trackpad skin on and, instead, cut it to the same thickness as my outside edges. I put my “custom skin” on that area myself.

If  you’re  prone to dropping your laptop, then you may want to consider a hard shell case, but for normal wear and tear — and a bit of banging around — this does an outstanding job.

Bottom line, if you’re spending all that money on your laptop, do yourself a favor and consider putting Wrapsol on to protect that investment.

*****

So there you have it. Dimitri is a fan of the product and is happily using it to keep his new MacBook Pro Retina safe. You can learn more and order yours here on the product page.

MSRP: $49.95 (front and back only $44.95)

What I Like: Easy application; Adds texture and grip; Doesn’t block and ports or other access area

What Needs Improvement: Doesn’t come with protection for the front and side edges; Good for scratch protection but for something more serious you will want a shell or sleeve
