Here’s a cool iPhone gadget that just showed up for review and I’m excited to put it through its paces. The Dexim ClickStik Bluetooth Camera Remote and Stand “allows users to safely mount their compatible Apple device while capturing photographs from up to 30-feet away using the Bluetooth equipped remote control”.

It works with both the iPhone and the iPod Touch (and the trigger portion works with all iOS devices). The ClickStik features a lightweight, multifunctional tripod and a matte-black Bluetooth remote shutter control. There is also a free app available through the App Store that “allows users to zoom, edit and share photographs via Facebook, Twitter, SMS and email”.

Here’s more:

Once the included universal holder and tough mount tripod are securely attached, users simply launch the application to begin capturing photographs when the time is right. The included Bluetooth remote pairs easily and releases the front or rear camera shutter from up to 30-feet away. The remote also allows users to switch between still shots and video and its lithium- ion battery quickly recharges via the included micro-USB cable. A Velcro strap is also provided to allow for convenient positioning of the tripod in elevated settings.

And here’s a quick video of it.

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him.
