The One Reason to Buy an iPad Mini

Yesterday Mike posted a piece explaining why he won’t be getting the iPad mini. He offered five reasons. All of them were well-considered, but at the end of the day I still maintain that “I’ll believe it when I see it”.

I figured it might be fun to offer a counterpoint to his points on the iPad mini, so here is my singular reason why I am ordering it and why, at the end of the day, I bet he will too.

How about you? Is this something that is in your gadget future? Why or why not?

The fact that I have an iPad is exactly the reason why I will not buy an iPad Mini. If I did not have an iPad already, the iPad Mini just may solve a problem for me. Because I have an iPad already, though, there is nothing that the iPad Mini will do that the iPad already does for me. It would be a complete waste of money.

(And I do not have any pockets in any garments that I wear on a regular basis that would fit an iPad Mini, with the exception of a sweatshirt – so, to carry a Mini, I still need a bag.)

  2. My thought is that rather than a ‘sweet spot’, the zone between smartphones and full tablets is more like ‘death valley’ … 🙂

  3. If I get the iPad Mini, it’ll be for the size. I’m waiting till they announce the Mini before I decide if I want to get it or the 7inch Kindle Fire HD. I dont care that much about the camera or the screen resolution. I use my current original Kindle Fire and my iPad3 for reading and doing internet-ish things.

I have MS, and my last flare affected my hands a lot. My iPad is a bit heavy, and my original Kindle Fire is lacking a lot in memory. I’m thinking the Mini or the Fire HD will be easier for me to deal with with having slightly wonky hands now. I just have to see which one is more affordable and what the capabilities of the iPad Mini will be. (still havent figured out if the Fire HD has any voice recognition software. I need to look that up)

  4. I will only get a 7″ tablet if it has voice capabilities. Otherwise, my Galaxy Note will do.
