There was wide speculation that Apple would time the release of the 6.0.1 update to match the launch of the iPad Mini, and that is exactly what has happened. If you head to your Software Update settings screen you will see the update is available.

Here are the updates:

•Fixes a bug that prevents iPhone 5 from installing software updates wirelessly over the air
•Fixes a bug where horizontal lines may be displayed across the keyboard
•Fixes an issue that could cause camera flash to not go off
•Improves reliability of iPhone 5 and iPod touch (5th generation) when connected to encrypted WPA2 Wi-Fi networks
•Resolves an issue that prevents iPhone from using the cellular network in some instances
•Consolidated the Use Cellular Data switch for iTunes Match
•Fixes a Passcode Lock bug which sometimes allowed access to Passbook pass details from lock screen
•Fixes a bug affecting Exchange meetings

As noted at 9-to-5 Mac the iPhone 5 requires an extra step:

The iPhone 5 apparently shipped with a bug that does not allow the device to receive over-the-air updates. For that reason, iPhone 5 users have to also download a patch in order to download iOS 6.0.1 through the settings app.

I didn’t notice anything immediately different on my iPad 3, but will be interested in seeing what others find on their phones and devices. Have you had issues addressed here? Let us know!

  1. I’ve noticed that, on the iPhone 5, the video and audio get out of sync over Bluetooth if you pause your video, leave the video app, and the go back to it. I was hoping this patch would fix it, but no soap.
