We’ve reviewed numerous products from Spigen SGP including their terrific GLAS.t line of tempered glass screen protectors. Their Illuzion Faux Leather Case for iPhone 5 is a new case in their lineup and, while I tend to prefer a case made from natural materials, this case has a lot going for it. In fact, one of the two review samples will likely be protecting one of the iPhone 5s in my extended family while the other will be part of a future iPhone case giveaway. In the meantime, lets take a look at this new style of case from SGP.

iPhone 5 Illuzion is a premium synthetic leather wallet case with card slots inside. The cover has a speaker and earpiece cutout to allow users to talk on the phone even when the case is closed. The exterior is made with horizontal wood grain leather to prevent the phone from scratches, and the interior is padded to protect screen. iPhone 5 Illuzion utilizes a polycarbonate hard frame to protect the entire phone from external impacts. The colors of the exterior and interior are contrasted to give your case a vibrant look.

Some of the wallet cases we reviewed for the iPhone 4S lacked a cutout for the camera and flash. That was a huge issue. There is no such issue here as the case has a cutout that allows for the lens, flash and microphone to remain open and accessible.
As you can see the Spigen logo is subtly embossed on the bottom. I appreciate when companies take this quieter approach to adding their logo to products.
Inside the case you will find a phone holder that is of the same style as the company’s Ultra Thin Air case. This is great news since it holds the iPhone securely in place while still allowing complete access to the iPhone’s screen, buttons and port.
On the interior side of the case’s cover you will find a cutout for the earpiece and two slots for cards. The card slots mean you can always have a credit card, license or some cash with you. The earpiece cutout means you can use the phone without opening the case. That all comes together to create a case which offers good protection AND functionality. And all of that comes in a case that is under $33!
