If you use a MacBook and either an iMac or a ThunderBolt Display, Just Mobile’s AluRack will help you keep things neat and tidy while letting you be more productive than ever. We recently looked at the company’s AluBase. It holds your MacBook in a vertical position on your desk and lets you connect it to your big, beautiful iMac or display whenever you want your notebook to work as a desktop.

If, however, you don’t want to take up the extra desk space with the AluBase and MacBook, then the AluRack is exactly what you have been looking for. Let’s take a closer look.

From Just Mobile:

The laptop mount for Apple iMac and ThunderBolt Display.

The Just Mobile AluRack™ is the innovative rear storage solution for your Apple iMac or Thunderbolt Display. This ingenious rack, Designed in Denmark by the award-winning Jakob Wagner, allows you to mount a laptop or external drive to the rear of your display.

The two-piece AluRack™ screws together through the hole in the stand of your iMac or Apple Display, creating a solid shelf without causing any damage to your computer. Crafted from high-grade aluminium and soft plastic, AluRack is the perfect complement to your iconic computer kit and the ideal way to keep your desk clutter-free.

It all starts with the big round hole in the back of Apple’s iMac and displays. They work well as pass-throughs for your various power cords and cables but, when used with the AluRack the hole serves double duty be allowing you to “suspend” your Apple notebook.

The AluRack comes in two pieces that screw together. It is a simple idea, but it works quite well.

Once in place, the AluBase becomes “one” with the display. Best of all, it is neatly tucked away behind the screen.

And, perhaps best of all, the AluRack maintains the power cord and cable hole of the display so you can also manage your cords and cables as you would were the AluRack not there. Again, it is a simple approach that works well.

This is both aesthetically pleasing and quite practical in a setting where there is little desk space available. It is also great if you just like keeping things clean and tidy.

The AluRack holds the MacBook in place without any straps, adjustments or other means of securing it in place. From there you simply attach all the cables, add a keyboard and mouse and you are good to go.

If you are using your MacBook as the brains of your computer, but are connecting it to a monitor, keyboard and mouse for a full desktop experience, then the AluRack is a terrific solution. Do you need it? Nope. You can do the same thing and simply leave the laptop lying on your desk. But if you want the laptop safely raised from potential spills and neatly and securely tucked out of the way, this is a terrific solution… so long as you have access to the back of your iMac or monitor. What I Like: A neat and clean solution for tucking your laptop behind an iMac or Apple monitor; Well made from strong materials that won’t scratch your computer; Still allows cable-pass through from the iMac or monitor

What Needs Improvement: Not something you need, but it is a nice luxury to have; Only usable if you have easy access to the back of your iMac or monitor
