Gear Diary USBFevers Wooden Made Handcrafted Camera Case for iPhone 5 Released photo

I read somewhere in a science fiction book back when I was a kid (I think it might have been Arthur C. Clarke, or maybe Isaac Asimov) that when technology reaches a certain level of maturity, everything becomes refinements and ornamentation rather innovation.  Consider the car, for example; its basic design (I.C. engine, round wheel to steer with, pedals for acceleration, braking, and shifting, gear shift lever) has remained essentially the same for a century.  We’ve added power windows, anti-lock breaks, break-away engine mounts, and all kinds of other refinements, but the basic design is pretty much the same.  If you re-animated my grand-dad (born in the late 19th Century) and plunked him down in a modern Honda, he’d be tooling down the road in no time.  (Which at 114 or so would be pretty scary!)

And on that note, I give you the USBFever wooden iPhone 5 case.  Does an iPhone 5 case need to look like a camera?  Need to be made out of wood?  No!  But we’re in the ornamentation phase of case tech, and so you might as well enjoy it!  Along with these other USBFever releases o’ the week:

Doug is a nerd from way back, falling for a Commodore PET at the age of 15, and never looking back. Riding the nerd wave, he got a Computer Science degree and entered the tech industry at a young age, deciding after a year and a half of front-line phone technical support that he should try something, *anything* else. He settled on technical writing, and has been cranking out documentation for companies like Unisys, SGI, Cisco, Juniper, and many others ever since. He is nothing short of ecstatic to be working for H-P from his home base in Austin.
