The search for the perfect iPad or tablet stand can sometimes feel a bit Sisyphean.  There are plenty of options out there, but they all have their trade-offs.  For example, I loved my Compass stand — it’s beautiful, portable, and easy to use.  But it’s not the sturdiest of stands (not to mention it gives TSA folks the willies).  So I’m always looking.  And maybe the XFLEX stand on Kickstarter will be a good option.

Instead of going with one of those multi-part arm component solutions, the XFlex folks have decided to have one single arm holding the tablet clamp.  I haven’t held it my hand or anything, but this arm is clearly made out of some flexible-but-strong material that allows you to bend it into multiple positions.  Combined with the heavy-duty base to provide solid support, it looks like a decent solution to the “I’m tired of holding up my tablet, dammit!” problem.  (Well, it’s a problem for me, but I have chronic neck pain issues, so I admit that I’m not in the mainstream here.)  It reminds me a lot of an industrial-strength version of those posable Gumby figures from when I was a wee one.  (Do they still have those?)

Anyway, here it is:
