Gear Diary OtterBox & AT&T Reveal the Armor Series at CES Toughest Cases Ever Built? photo

In general, I tend to go for iPhone cases that add as little weight and bulk to my iPhone as possible, while at the same time giving me at least some protection.  But there are definitely times when you want more protection than that.  Let’s say you have a loved one who has an unfortunate habit of carrying giant, open cups of tea in the cup-holders of the car, and has unfortunately let her iPhone slip into said cups on several occasions.  Or maybe you have a teenage son who, while relatively responsible with his belongs, has the habit of teenage boys everyone to drop stuff on the ground by accident.  Such as his iPhone.  Or maybe your need is a bit more jejune; you go hiking or spend a lot of time outdoors getting assailed by the elements.  In such cases, you need more protection, including water protection.  And that’s when you might want to consider something like the OtterBox.

The Armor Series for iPhone 4/4S and iPhone 5 will be available in AT&T retail locations and online from ATT.com beginning February 22, 2013; Armor Series cases for Samsung Galaxy® S III will be available soon. So if you are looking for a tough case that will take punishment and that is waterproof to boot?  Maybe you need to check out Otterbox.  (Certainly check out Judie’s pics from CES below!)

Note from Judie: These cases as substantial bulk and weight to the iPhone or Galaxy SIII; if you need this type of protection you’ll likely not care, but you should keep it in mind.
