Now, for the most part, SLR lenses and components just don’t work with smartphones. I mean, really; why should they; SLR lenses tend to be pretty big and bulky, and figuring out a way to attach one to a smartphone case can be a PITA. But USBFever has gotten through that issue and is offering their new SLR 37mm lens and case for the iPhone 5 with that kind of interoperability in mind.If you were a big camera buff back in the days when you used actual, ya know, silver-nitrate film, one thing that could be annoying–at least, I found it annoying–is that lenses and attachments often weren’t inter-changeable. That is, you bought yourself a nice Nikon camera, and then saw a really cool (say) Cannon lens set, and you couldn’t get it because they didn’t fit together. Maybe the Nikon used tabs and the Cannon used a screw-on method. Something. Highly annoying.
The USBFever package includes a threaded photo cover for iPhone 5 along with an adapter ring for the 37mm lens. This gives you the ability to share these 37mm lenses with your SLR or DSLR camera, i.e. they’re not just for the iPhone 5 alone. So it’s kinda a two-for-one deal.
So if you’re a camera buff and own an iPhone, and want to have some high-quality lens capability for your iPhone 5, maybe this is the product for you. The product is available on the USBFever web site; surf on over and check it out. And if you do, be sure to let us know what you think below. (I’m particularly interested in your response if you own both an iPhone 5 and an SLR camera.)
