One little-used ability of many phones and tablets that employ the MicroUSB standard for charging and syncing is the ability to use USB peripherals such as mice, keyboards and storage devices such as thumb drive and external USB drives. The lack of a USB OTG cable and the inability to connect more than one device at a time is a significant issue that stands in the way of making this ability more useful than it is. Thanks to USBFever’s Hi-Speed 4-port 2-in-1 OTG & PC USB Hub for Galaxy S4 / Note 2 that issue has now been resolved. USBFever’s new USB hub is designed to plug directly into any device that supports the USB On the Go or USB OTG standard. Samsung GALAXY devices are all support as are the Nokia Lumia 920, LG Nexus 4, LG Optimus 3D and the new HTC One. Many other devices also support USB OTG and will be able to take advantage of this new accessory.
The Hi-Speed 4-port 2-in-1 OTG & PC USB Hub for Galaxy S4 / Note 2 also includes a converter that allows the hub to function as a standard USB hub. Unfortunately you will probably not be able to use devices like a USB drive that is powered through the USB port with the hub since they tend to require a significant amount of power. A keyboard and mouse however should work just fine- as should a thumb drive. I can see myself using this handy accessory to backup pictures I took with my phone to a thumb drive on the go or use this with a Nexus 7 to plug in a small USB keyboard. Even a game controller might work! These are just a few of the many uses I imagine this accessory might make possible. Better still, it’s only 5 bucks! Well it’s really $4.99 plus shipping direct from USBFever.com but that’s well worth it if this accessory works as promised!
