Speck CandyShell for the iPhone 5C Review

Gear Diary iPhone 5C 02

The Speck GemShell for the iPhone 5C is a great way to protect your new device while also allowing the color of the iPhone’s plastic case to shine through. (Check out our review.) If, however, you want a case that not only protects, but also adds its own color to the iPhone 5C, then you should check out the $34.95 Speck CandyShell.

The CandyShell for iPhone 5C has the same familiar design we have seen on previous CandyShell models. That means it offers a good degree of lay-on-the-table protection. The space that covers the bottom of the phone is divided into three different areas; this means there is less likelihood of the thin parts of the cases’ material tearing. This was an issue on some of the earlier CandyShell models.

Features:

Patented design provides two layers of protection in a single-piece construction that’s easy to put on and take off.

Impact-resistant. Hard outer shell on these iPhone 5C accessories guards against impact and adds strength and durability.

Shock-absorbent. Soft, rubbery interior and reinforced corners absorb shock from occasional bumps and drops.

Glossy finish. Shiny veneer helps you slide your phone in and out of pockets with ease.

Save face. Raised edges help protect your screen from impact and add grip so your iPhone 5C can lie face down on tables or dashboards without sliding.

Cover your buttons. Rubberized covers shield buttons while keeping them fully accessible.

The Speck CandyShell for iPhone 5C is a simple case. It doesn’t ship with a screen protector, but it does offer a good bit of protection to all of the other parts of the iPhone 5C. Sure it covers the 5C’s color, but it adds its own and does a good job of protecting your phone in the process. If, however, you want the color to shine through get the Speck GemShell instead. You can check out the colors and order yours here.
