The STM Cape Helps the 2013 Nexus 7 Stand Up and Stay Slim

Since the 2013 Nexus 7 has been out for a while, cases for it have started to become easier to find. I have been using the Waterfield Slip Case; one issue with that is how the device is naked when you remove it from the case to use it. The STM Cape does not have this issue, and it has a stand!

The Waterfield Slip Case Dan had sent me is beautiful, and it is great for carrying the Nexus 7. But as I mentioned, the one problem with using it is that my device has no protection once it’s been pulled out. At that point the tablet is naked, and if you are a butter-fingers then a sleeve case is probably not a good idea. STM has come out with the Cape, which is a case for the 2013 Nexus 7. It not only holds your device even when it’s in use, but it also provides a nifty stand so you can prop your Nexus 7 up at one of two angles while using it. The Cape also has a cutout for the camera on its back, so no functions are impaired when the Nexus 7 is in place.

The color of the Cape I was provided with is a light grey;  I like the color, but one problem with the light grey is that it can collect the oils off of your hand where you hold it, along with any dirt; it all seems to be sucked into the grey fabric that the case is covered in.  The good thing is that the Cape is also available in black, so if your hands aren’t always pristine, the black should look nicer longer. The liner that faces the screen on both cases is soft and light grey; it seems to suck up dust and lint, and it’s especially good at picking up fuzzies from my black fleece I am wearing now that the weather has started to get chilly.

While any case will certainly add some bulk to the already svelte Nexus 7, the STM Cape doesn’t add much.  In fact, it’s slimmer than the Nexus 7 in the Waterfield Slip case, as well as one other case I’ve picked up that I will be reviewing later.

The STM Cape might just be the case for you!  It’s a high quality case that can take the abuse of carrying your tablet daily. While I like it, there are other cases that look just as good and that have magnets built into the cover that make it so convenient to open up the tablet, check a few things, and then close it without the need to hit the power button.  If you don’t care about that convenience, then the STM Cape might work for you. You can pick it up on AmazonThe STM Cape Helps the 2013 Nexus 7 Stand Up and Stay Slim.

MSRP: $35.00

What I Like: Built in stand; does not add a lot of bulk to the Nexus 7

What Needs Improvement: It’s a dirt magnet; no built-in magnets for easy on & off of the screen
