We recently reviewed the small, light but highly functional Lowepro Streamline 250. (Read the review.) The Lowepro Streamline 150 is a smaller, less expensive bag that offers the same design and features as its big brother. If you carry a point and shoot or a small mirrorless camera, it may be just the thing for you!

I was initially worried that the Streamline 250 might look a bit too “murse-like”. After using it for a bit that concern all but disappeared. It returned when using the streamline 150 and, thanks to the size of this, the smallest bag in the streamline lineup, it is even more of a concern. Yes, the Streamline 150 does look like a murse, but it serves its intended purposes well enough that, even if this is an issue for you, it might be worth overlooking that fact.

The Streamline 150 is designed to hold a compact or mirrorless camera, a 7″ tablet, smartphone and select accessories. In other words, if you plan to travel with anything but the bare essentials, this is not going to be the bag for you. If that warning isn’t enough, let’s run down the specific measurements so you can get a better of whether this small bag will be too small for you.

  • Camera Compartment: 25 x 4 x 20 cm (9.84 x 1.57 x 7.87 in)
  • Tablet Compartment: 23 x 1 x 19.5 cm (9.06 x 0.39 x 7.68 in)
  • Internal Dimensions: 25 x 4 x 20 cm (9.84 x 1.57 x 7.87 in)
  • External Dimensions: 28 x 12 x 25 cm (11.02 x 4.72 x 9.84 in)
  • Weight: 0.3 kg (0.66 lbs)

The bag features:

  • Lightweight construction with durable, weather-resistant fabrics provide all-day wearing comfort, plus protection of gear
  • Padded and softly lined device compartments protect against dust, scratches and abrasion
  • Expandable main compartment unzips at bottom of bag to offer more storage for personal items

A single front flap is held securely in place with two pieces of Velcro. It opens to reveal two pockets. These are perfect for a few (emphasis on “few”) accessories.

One pocket has a key loop for better organization on the go. I never used to make proper and consistent use of key loops in bags, but I have started to and find it to be an essential part of being able to get to the gear I need when I need it.

Like on the Streamline 250, there is a front zipper that opens to reveal a two-pocket camera storage area. It is small, but will hold a camera and an accessory such as a lens or flash.

The main storage area opens to reveal a large — large for this small bag, obviously — space for additional items. At the back is a small, unpadded space designed to hold a 7″ tablet or eBook reader.

And while the bag is quite small in size, like its big brother the Streamline 250…

…this bag has a zipper that can be released for times when you need the main storage area to hold a bit more. It effectively doubles the space offered by the main storage area.

Finally, the back of the Lowepro Streamline 150 had an open pocket for a few papers and a loop for hanging the bag for times when that might be more convenient.

As Lowepro puts it this is… “an everyday bag for your mirrorless/CSC kit, tablet, smartphone and essentials. Designed for convenience, multiple devices and protection – it’s a modern way to carry it all.”

I like small bags but, for me, this bag goes a bit TOO far. As someone who carries an iPad mini and tends to keep an external battery, a Livescribe pen and Livescribe paper as well as assorted other accessories I found this bag to be a bit too constraining. I also wasn’t able to get past the murse-like quality of it. If, however, you are not a chronic over-packer like me, and the murse aspect of it is not an issue, this inexpensive bag may be the perfect way to carry your gear. You can learn more here.

What Needs Improvement: For me this is just a bit too small and a bit too murse-like!
