Thursday night, Judie and I had the chance to listen to Linkin Park through a specially installed JBL sound system at the Hard Rock’s The Joint. The concert was a celebration of the relaunch of Infinity by Harman and a celebration of a partnership between Linkin Park and Harman International. Here’s how Infinity by Harman and Linkin Park describe their new partnership.

HARMAN, the premium global audio and infotainment group today announced at the Consumer Electronics Show that GRAMMY Award-winning, multi-platinum alternative rock band Linkin Park will be the new brand ambassadors for the Infinity brand. Reflective of a common history of pushing boundaries, challenging convention, and producing cutting-edge sound, the exclusive five-year partnership between Linkin Park and Infinity will go beyond advertising to include collaboration in product design. To mark the new relationship, Linkin Park will help unveil a sneak peek of two all-new Infinity product lines — the Infinity Reference Loudspeakers Series and the brand’s first portable wireless sound system, called Infinity One.

“This partnership is a natural fit for us since the Infinity brand is designed precisely for people like us, who have a deep and abiding love for music,” said Linkin Park co-lead vocalist and producer, Mike Shinoda. “Our band is serious and discerning about sound quality, and Infinity’s 46 years of relentless audio innovation to progress sound purity is both inspiring and motivational.”

The evening started with a meet and greet with Linkin Park. We learned about the new partnership. The reasons why it seemed like a “natural” and the ways the two — Harman International and Linkin Park — are working to address the issue of sound degradation. (Check our video promo of the upcoming movie on the subject over on our YouTube channel.) The band spoke about their craft, the ways in which audio compression can quickly undo all the art they put into creating a song and the ways their partnership with Harman has the potential to address some small part of the problem. They also took time to ask us to help promote a special concert they are holding tomorrow night in Los Angeles to help with disaster relief as well as sign a special pair of speakers that will be auctioned off to help raise needed funds. We were impressed with their ongoing commitment to use their celebrity to do good!

After that it was time for food and drink, some pictures, and then the concert.

For the concert Harman had installed a special JBL audio system.

It. Was. Amazing.

We were actually front row at the stage on the floor, standing in front of a line of speakers placed on the floor. The music was so loud; you could feel the vibration of the bass, and at times see Judie’s hair moved by it. (We will likely have a post on hearing loss soon – ha!)

The sound system was nothing short of remarkable. Our position just feet from the band was, too. Here are more of Judie’s pictures.

Linkin Park will serve as Infinity ambassadors, and they are working closely with the brand’s design and engineering teams on the development, voicing, and industrial design of the new Infinity product portfolio. The band has a long history of interests rooted in sound and technology, and for the launch of the new Infinity Reference Loudspeakers Series, they collaborated with Infinity to create “Gold Dipped” Special Edition Floorstanding Loudspeakers.

The Infinity One will be the first portable wireless sound system from Infinity, and will feature premium and cutting edge materials, high fidelity sound, wireless streaming and a built-in rechargeable battery with up to 10 hours of playtime — offering consumers premium quality sound and the utmost in mobility.

We are excited to see what will come of this Infinity by Harman and Linkin Park; their concert was an amazing start. Learn more about Infinity by Harman here.
