In recent months we’ve looked at fancy speakers costing north of $400. We’ve reviewed speakers that use dongles or rely on Bluetooth or AirPlay for connectivity. We’ve reviewed small speakers that put out HUGE party-ready sound while also acting as a speakerphone with a noise-canceling microphone. None of this describes the Nude Audio Move S Wired portable wired speaker.

No, the Nude Audio Move S Wired portable wired speaker is all about being small, easy to use, and inexpensive. It’s connectivity comes in the form of a permanent 3.5mm cable. There’s no option for wireless connectivity, there’s no option to use it as a speakerphone, and there’s no WAY this speaker would be a sufficient source of audio for even the smallest of parties — unless it is a party of one. Small. Simple. Inexpensive. That’s what the Nude Audio Move S Wired portable wired speaker is all about, and Nude Audio is upfront about the simplest and least expensive speaker in their lineup — although I think their use of the word “big” is a stretch.

Don’t let its small size and price fool you. The Move S Wired delivers big sound for its stature. Fits in the palm of your hand. Or in a pocket, when you can resist it’s tactile nature.

Fitting easily in my hand, the speaker is about the size of a baseball. Its solid construction uses a soft touch material on the sides and back and a harder plastic for the speaker. The word NUDE sits in an offset position on the front.

Reminiscent of soap-on-a-rope, the thick cord on the speaker makes it easy to hang from a bag. It is a whimsical feature that does a good job of drawing attention to what would be an otherwise boring speaker.

The company certainly plays up this feature on the product page by including this image!

A power button turns the speaker on and off.

A microUSB port charges the speaker. It can get up to 8 hours per charge and will hold 50% of its charge for three months when not used for an extended period of time.

In the corner is a rather surprising bit of tech on an otherwise super-simple speaker — a 3.5mm port so you can daisy chain multiple Nude Audio Move S Wired portable wired speakers.

TeamPlay: The Move S Wired can be teamed up with a second or third speaker using the TeamPlay feature.(Think: daisy chain). Just plug the 3.5mm cable from the additional speaker or speakers into the Aux-out port for bigger sound.

The 3.5mm cable that connects the speaker to the audio source is permanently attached, and it hides away on the back waiting to be freed and connected to your phone, tablet, or mp3 player.

An integrated 3.5mm cable connects this portable speaker to any smartphone or tablet. Just plug the cable into the headphone port and you’re good to go. With up to 8 hours of battery life when fully charged, it’s ready when you are.

Here’s a look at the Move S Wired speaker on camera.
