By today’s standards the Samsung GALAXY Note 8.0 is an old device. That may be true, but it is still a highly capable Android tablet that offers speed, a nice screen, an IR Blaster and a stylus. For tablets the right case makes a huge difference, and the ifrogz Script Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is “the right case”.

From ifrogz:

The Script is a folio-style case that features a snap-in PC frame and a fashionable black fabric. The frame consists of two PC parts that provide a sleek design and numerous media viewing angles.

The Script is a low profile portfolio case that includes a magnetic auto sleep awake feature so the tablet only comes to life (and consumes significant charge) when you are actually using it. The cover is thin, rigid, and it does a great job of protecting the tablet’s screen. The small ifrogz name and logo in the lower right corner is the only branding on the case’s exterior.

The same rigid material makes its way to the back of the case. In fact the cover is a single piece of material, giving it a sleek, refined look and feel. The back portion of the cover is attached to the plastic cradle that holds the tablet in place.

Case Highlights:

  • Foldable cover provides various media angles
  • Protection: Guards against impact damage. Shields surface from dust and scratches.
  • Allows access to all ports, inputs, and sensors.

Inside the front cover the case offers a nicely textured design that not only looks good but also offers some nice tactile feel when the cover is flipped to the back of the tablet and it is held in one hand. Without the case, the plastic shell of the Note 8.0 is rather slippery. The textured interior of the case makes it far easier to get, and keep, a grip on the device.

To my mind one of the key elements that makes the Samsung GALAXY Note 8.0 stand out is the included stylus. It lets the tablet do things that are impossible with something like the iPad. (Take good handwritten notes for example.) The case design provides complete access to the stylus so you can pull it out and replace it on the fly.

The other standout feature of the Note 8.0 is the IR Blaster that allows the tablet to double as a media remote. It too is left fully unencumbered. Another great feature of the Script Case is the built-in stand. It holds the tablet at a number of landscape angles although the design seems to prefer the angle shown in these images.

The ifrogz Script Case for Samsung GALAXY Note 8.0 is a terrific low-profile portfolio-style that offers good protection, full access to all controls, ports and the stylus and doubles as a stand. It is a nice design that looks and feels great. At a current sale price of $11.99 it is a steal. I’m glade I bought one and recommend it to anyone using this powerful little tablet.

MSRP: $39.99 but currently on sale for $11.99

What I Like: Nicely built; Highly protective; Protects the plastic shell of the tablet and the screen while still allowing full access to all ports and controls; Doubles as a stand; Magnets offers auto sleep/awake functionality

What Needs Improvement: Nothing, I’m quite impressed with this product
