The Ventev powercell 6000+ is a 6000mAh backup battery. Featuring dual USB ports, the 1A port charges phones while the 2.1A rapid charging port will keep your tablet running. A built-in US 110 plug means you don’t need a cable to charge the battery. Best of all, Ventev powercell 6000+ is under $75.

External batteries are a basic necessity of today’s modern mobile life. After all, today’s phones and tablets are becoming ever more powerful and battery technology simply can’t keep up. I know it is an extreme case, but at CES each year you can almost see the charge on your smartphone dropping while you watch. Small external batteries are nice but they run down too quickly; huge external batteries are great if you will be spending a lot of time away from an outlet but can be too large and too heavy. The powercell 6000+ strikes a nice middle ground between the two extremes. It is large enough to add 25 hours of talk time, 18 hours of browsing time, 20 hours of video playback, and 100 hours of audio playback. It is small enough to easily fit into your pocket.

The 1A (5W) and 2.1A (10W) ports mean you can charge a phone and a tablet at the same time. With many of us always carrying a smartphone AND a tablet, this is a great design that will come in quite handy. Add in the soft material covering the battery, and this unassuming accessory hits all the right notes.

The standout feature of the Ventev powercell 6000+ is the US 110 plug built right into the battery. That means you don’t need to carry an extra USB to microUSB cable and wall adapter in order to charge the battery. Instead, you simply flip up the plug and plug it into the wall to charge the battery.

The button for turning the battery on is easy to see and access and, once powered up, an LED above it lets you know how much charge remains. It is a simple design, but one that works quite well. I took this battery with me on a recent three day trip to Washington and had no complaints. I suspect you’ll be quite happy with the Ventev powercell 6000+ too. Learn more and order yours here.

MSRP: $74.99

What I Like: Good capacity in a nice package; Soft touch material is comfortable to hold; Dual ports let you charge a phone and a table simultaneously; Wall adapter built into the battery for convenience

What Needs Improvement: Does not ship with a protective bag (that is a nice way to keep the battery from getting knocked around)
