I love it when an external battery pack includes everything needed to charge and be charged in one package, and that is where the $17 5200mAh Lumsing Mini Portable Power Bank really shines. Not only does it have a built in microUSB for charging your phone, it also has a built in USB charger for charging the battery itself.

Measuring approximately 3″ long x 2″ wide x 0.8″ thick,  the power bank is composed of shiny white plastic that is bisected by a rubber USB to microUSB cable that plugs into matching ports on the battery, ready to be unplugged when needed. But as usual, I am getting ahead of myself.

For such an inexpensive battery, there sure is a lot of swag included in the box! Not only is there an included velvety storage and carrying bag, there is also a USB to micro USB cable included in case you need better access to the back of your desktop computer’s USB ports, for example. There is even a microUSB to 30-pin adapter included, although I can’t help but wish it had been a microUSB to Lighting adapter, instead.

The Lumsing Mini Portable Power Bank holds 5200mAh, which is enough to charge all smartphones at least once; some smartphones will get an additional two to three charges. Pushing the button near the four LEDs will cause them to light, each indicates 25% of the remaining battery level, and they will light up green as the battery is being charged,  glowing solid when it has been filled.

The picture above shows how the microUSB plug tucks into the microUSB port, and the USB plug is plugged into the battery’s USB port. This design is insanely clever (and I suspect money-saving), because it allows a single approximately 6″ cable to function as a the means and wherewithal for battery and device charging. If you want to charge the battery, you simply unplug the USB side, and plug it into your computer or a USB charger. If you want to charge your device, you unplug the microUSB side and plug the port into your device. DONE.

At only $16, the Lumsing Mini Portable Power Bank is a great way to stay charged when you’re on a plane, away from your desk, or you don’t have a car charger handy. You can plug your phone into it and leave it in your bag, it’s that portable. At this price, it’s not too early to be thinking about holiday stocking stuffers, host gifts, spare gifts for people who show up that you didn’t buy anything for … at this price? Why not?

I should win this because I’m a full time college student, a caretaker to my husband with PTSD and TBI from Iraq, I make jewelry, and sell hair flexi’s, along with crochet in my spare time.. I’m also a blogger who is teaching East Texas how to save money!!

I should win because I could really, really use one of these!

  5. I would really love to have this for when we travel, my husband and I both have smartphones and iPads that we could use this for. My hubby is always forgetting to bring his charger!!

I’m not sure there is a reason that I “should” win…
But it sure would be nice to have an extra power source when I’m on long trips.
    …and at 16 bucks, if I don’t win, I sure can afford a couple of them…

  7. I would love to win this because my phone doesn’t hold a charge like it should. I wouldn’t have to worry when I leave the house and need to use my phone. Thank you for the chance to win.

A power bank is such a useful, almost necessary accessory, for the various mobile devices I carry around. Winning this will help me extend the life of my phone (a Nokia 808 PureView) and music player ( an iPod 16 GB).

  9. I need to win because I always have a issue with my ipad mini giving out of charge right at the time I don’t have a way to charge it. It would be nice to have portable charge.

Because I never am able to afford these types of things for myself.
