Beamdog Teases New Chapter for Baldur’s Gate Coming in 2015!

The Baldur’s Gate franchise of epic fantasy role playing games are amongst the most beloved and critically acclaimed of all time. They have recently been re-released as ‘enhanced editions’, and now Beamdog has teased us with pictures of screens and tidbits of information about their ‘Adventure Y’, which is “bridging the gap between Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II.”

Here is what they said on their blog:

This year, the eagerly anticipated Adventure Y will finally navigate the dark underground caverns of development and venture out into the Sword Coast. We’ve mentioned before that Adventure Y will be an addition to the Baldur’s Gate line using the Infinity engine, bridging the gap between Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition. Keep an eye on the Beamblog in late spring for announcements regarding the content and release date of Adventure Y. We have an exciting release planned for this game, something bigger than we’ve ever done before. If you’re looking for more information on Adventure Y, check out these pictures which were mysteriously leaked to the forums.

The screen above is one of a few teased in their forums, you can check out this post for (not many) more details.

The blog posts says that more information will be available late Spring 2015, so it will be a while before we have a projected release date … but it seems fairly certain that we will see something this year!

Beamdog is also working on games with a modern engine that they will talk about later in the year, but have no current plans around Baldur’s Gate III – which is frequently speculated about.

So while it isn’t anything concrete yet, after coming off a pretty tremendous 2014 in the RPG genre, things have kicked off pretty well for 2015!
