As a runner I know what it’s like to be out early in the morning on a cold winter day. You do your best to keep each part of your body warm and protected from the elements. Gloves, hat, wool socks, these are but some of the tools I use to keep myself warm when out and about. The ThermaJockRead more
Like any good admitted fanboy, I often find myself looking for Apple products on TV. Lately I’ve been spotting more and more iDevices popping up on many of the shows I watch. So I’ve decided to start a new weekly segment entitled “Apple On TV.” The premise is simple. Whenever I spot an Apple product in one of the showsRead more
It’s no secret. I’m a big fan of the cases Speck Products had been churning out for the entire iDevice lineup. One of their newest offerings, The Candy Shell for the iPod Touch 4G recently arrived on my door step and I was happy to welcome it. I’ve owned the Candy Shell for both the iPhone 3G/3Gs and the iPhoneRead more
Most iPhone users choose to protect their device with a case. A case not only offers a barrier between your phone and the outside elements but allows you to add your own personal design tastes to your mobile device. For me a protective case is only half of the equation though. How I carry my iPhone is just as important.Read more
Vlogging is a very popular activity these days. If you’re not familiar with it, the process involves recording a video-diary of your life and then posting it online for the world to follow. It seems everywhere I look there’s someone who’s decided to record a portion of their life and post it on the internet. If you’ve ever tried toRead more
We all love our ScotteVest clothing here at Gear Diary. One of the coolest features of SeV wear is the ability to take a set of ear buds and wire them through the garment so they’re always there when you need them. The only issue is the fact that you then have to dedicate a set of headphones to thisRead more
I’m a big fan of the Amazon Kindle 3. It’s become a permanent fixture on my bedside table and I use it almost religiously each night before bed. Amazon’s current version of their e-reader is slim and small. So much so that I think a case actually compliments it. Like the iPod Touch I sometimes find when devices are tooRead more

I drink a lot of microbrews. One of the challenges anyone who does often faces is the dilemma, “is it a twist-off or not”. The last thing you want to do on a hot summer afternoon is struggle to get the top off your ice cold beer. With the BottleMate there isn’t even a need to guess. The BottleMate isRead more

Just in time for the upcoming Halloween holiday the folks at Disney Publishing have released their newest read-along story for the iPad. I’ve come across a few unique bag company’s during my stint here at Gear Diary. The ones that have really struck me are those who are manufacturing their product from recycled materials. Add Temple Bags to the list. The company makes a variety of bags and cases all of which are made of recycled World War II products.
You’ve got to want an iPad pretty bad to fly all the way from Australia to NYC to get one. But that’s exactly what a group of fanboys did. When they got home with their new toys they came up with the Wallee. This stylish iPad case and wall mount combination was created by a bunch of iPad users. TheRead more
Cooking bacon at home often presents challenges. If you cook it on top of the stove you’re left to deal with the large amount of grease that continually builds up in the pan while cooking. If you go the microwave route you’re dealing with paper towels and are limited by the amount you can cook at one time.
It seems the iPhone on Verizon is a virtual certainly at this point. I couldn’t help but chuckle when I got the mail today and pulled this AT&T circular from the box because it seems AT&T knows it too. AT&T sends promotional information often, I still think it’s funny that they do so even though I’m already a subscriber butRead more
Remember years ago when Nextel’s Direct Connect phones were all the rage? They aren’t used widely today, but back then the familiar beep of the walky-talky feature was something heard often. Thanks to a tip from a YouTube friend I’ve been using a new iOS application called “HeyTell” which mirrors the Nextel Direct Connect function.
HeyTell turns your iOS device

This strikes me as one of the more frightening lapses in security that I can recall reading about.

iPhone protection is a bit of a double-edged sword for me. Everyone knows I’ve got a bit of an obsession with cases, but truth be told I like my iPhone best naked. Since I often carry my phone in my pants pocket keeping it as slim as possible is important. It is for this reason that I have been usingRead more

I grew up with a mother who was very into photography. We had a darkroom at home, processed and printed all our film ourselves, and to this day my entire family is all very much into the hobby. On October 6th at a Sotheby’s watch auction, a Patek Philippe platinum 5078P sold for 2.42 million Hong Kong dollars (US $312,000). Although it doesn’t look like all that much, the watch has a rather distinct set of features which make it stand apart from other time pieces.
First of it’s a Patek Philippe, which is the Rolls Royce of
