Vi AI Personal Trainer: More Than Just a Fitness Coach

I’ll start this post by stating a simple, known fact: I am not a runner. I’m more of a jogger or a fast walker, but once I’ve started I’ll at least keep going — even if my speed isn’t going to win any medals. The Vi AI Personal Trainer aims to help me become a better and more consistent runner.

V-MODA Forza Metallo Wireless Headphones Cut the Cord and Let You Run

As I’ve written previously, I love V-MODA products and have anxiously been waiting for the V-MODA Forza Metallo Wireless to arrive. They cut the word without compromising on sound or battery life thanks to their “Neckband Headphone” design that wrap the battery and controls around the neck as the earbuds extend from thin wires to reach your ears.

The Next Big Fitness Metric: Breathing

Todays’ wearable technology is being used to track a great many statistics related to fitness and health. Devices from Fitbit and Jawbone, for example, can be used to monitor heart rate, calories burned, total activity time and much more.

Humon Changes How We Measure Fitness

Fitness trackers sound good on paper, but the reality is they only measure one tiny slice of fitness. Cardio and steps are important, but they aren’t a full picture. Humon is a new wearable that seeks to rectify that by measuring muscle endurance instead of steps, and it’s a pretty brilliant concept!

Is the RunIQ Smartwatch Truly a Watch for Runners?

Over the past month or so, I’ve been running exclusively with my RunIQ, the first ever Android smartwatch created by popular fitness cross trainer company New Balance. Announced earlier this year at CES 2017, the RunIQ has been putting my love for the Apple Watch to test in both practicality, and honestly… looks.

Fitkicks Shoes Review: Minimalism for the Masses

I love being barefoot. I work out barefoot, and in the spring and fall I wear Vibram FiveFingers when I need shoes and flip-flops in the summertime. While being barefoot is free, minimal shoes tend to be really, really expensive, as well as really polarizing in appearance. Fitkicks Shoes handily solves one of these issues!

The Jabra Elite Sport Earbuds Are Awesome, No Strings Attached

Jabra is an audio company that is known for their high-performance premium headphones. And a lot is the same with their Jabra Elite Sport earbuds, a competitor in the completely wireless headphone market looking to take down Apple’s Airpods. We had an opportunity to check them out, so let’s see if they can compete with the Dash and Airpods.

Plantronics BackBeat FIT Second Look: Still Impressive

At CES 2016, Judie and I had a chance to check out the Plantronics BackBeat FIT. We were impressed and said so in our review last February. (Read the review.) Fast forward a year, and the BackBeat FIT is still going strong. A few things have changed, so we thought we would take a second look.

Misfit Announces Vapor Smartwatch with Touchscreen

Misfit is determined to conquer every level of the fitness wearables market with devices that place style on the same level as function. They started with the Shine, then the Flash, and post-Fossil acquisition they’ve released the Ray and the Phase Hybrid. Now they’re looking to tackle the true smartwatch market with the $199 Vapor! Vapor appears to tick all the usual smartwatch/fitness watch boxes. It has GPS, can function as a standalone music device, tracks heart rate, and is waterproof for swimming. Where Misfit hopes to shine (no pun intended, given their flagship product) is in the style. The…

Twelve South Debuts ActionSleeve for the Apple Watch

There’s a big flaw in the concept of fitness wearables; they really only work for running or biking. Weightlifting, calisthenics, boxing, and other workouts just aren’t conducive to having a watch on, and it cuts out a big chunk of the fitness market. Twelve South may have a solution with their new ActionSleeve Armband for the Apple Watch.

The Yoak Is the Coolest Fitness Innovation of 2016

Fitness, especially home fitness, has evolved quite a bit in the last few years. Suspension straps, kettlebells, and just plain bodyweight workouts have become extremely popular, and it’s been fascinating to watch equipment evolve to meet these new needs. So when I stumbled across The Yoak, I had to learn more.
