Active Media Wink USB Drive Review

One of the things I like to do when attending shows like CES is collect flash memory press kit thumbdrives to use again once I get home. In years past, it was considered a huge score if I was given a drive larger than 1GB, and this year I actually got several which were 2GB – along with a single 4GB drive, but alas … the thrill was almost gone, because at home I had a 16GB flash drive which was smaller and cuter than anything I was handed at CES.

The Active Media Wink is minimalism personified with just a touch of sass in the form of a winky emoticon on the front, and it’s available in black or pink; you can guess which one I received…

The Wink is tiny – measuring just 1.2″ long x 0.5″ wide x 0.1″ thick, and it’s available in memory denominations of 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB.

The loop on the end of the flashdrive is almost a necessity – the Wink is so small it would be easy to lose! Don’t worry about dropping it or getting it covered in pocket lint however; this flash memory is waterproof and shock resistant.

The Wink is available from Amazon in memory denominations of 2, 4, 8 or 16GB, and you can get yours in pink or the less girly black.

MSRP: $37.95 as tested

What I Like: Tiny size with large amounts of memory; minimalistic design with a cute winky face

What Needs Improvement: They are using Sarah Palin’s wink from the vice-presidential debates as an unfortunate marketing tool … the wink was odd when it happened, and here it seems just as out of place.
