It sounds great…”Unlimited books and comics for your iPad!”

But what is MyPadMedia? Well, it is a site that promises the holy grail to readers: pay them $50 ONCE, and the floodgates open for unlimited books. What books? Well, you need to pay to play, my friends. There’s a testimonial that claims to have read “the whole twilight series”, but if you want more you need to pony up some serious dough, sight unseen.

From all appearances, it is a huge scam.

Red flag #1: no searchable listings. Pay up, but they won’t tell you what you’re paying for!

Red flag #2: no mention of what publishers are on board.

Red flag #3: no mention of any digital rights management software.

Red flag #4: the legal section of their site:

They aren’t actually providing the copyrighted material…

Product Purchase The purchase of a membership is not a license to upload or download copyrighted material. myPadMedia.com does not provide a direct database for downloading myPadMedia.com provides members with the necessary software, tutorials & unlimited technical support for their downloading needs.

Not only that, but they say here it’s a “monthly” fee…

myPadMedia makes no claim to ownership or other control or rights to any software recommended by myPadMedia or its agents. All software recommendations refer to either “Freeware” or software that is otherwise available without charge to individuals at large for specific purposes. None of the charges assessed to members of myPadMedia entitle You, as a Purchaser to any ownership, licensing rights or recourse with regard to use of the software other than those rights offered by the software owners or licensees. The fees and charges assessed by myPadMedia represent recurring monthly club membership fees which entitle You as a Purchaser to access to the location, evaluation, and or recommendation of those software products available from the web site and for the information provided to purchasers. myPadMedia Members may cancel at anytime during the course of their membership.

And they aren’t responsible when you get slammed for downloading pirated books…

Indemnification You agree to indemnify, hold harmless and release myPadMedia, its directors, officers, and employees, from and against any and all claims, damages, costs and expenses, including reasonable attorney’s fees, arising from or related to Your use of the Site and/or any content contained therein

Everything about this screams “This is a site that helps/facilitates searching the darknet/bittorrent for pirated ebooks.”

Verdict: HUGE SCAM. Stay away. And beware, they are spamming Twitter (Judie received a tweet about them today, which is how we found out about the site!)

Please share this and spread the word so no one falls victim to MyPadMedia! And if you have any info on them, email me or post a comment below!
