Case-Mate is just releasing their newest case for the Apple iPad. Well to be more accurate, they are releasing their newest case AND their newest stand for the iPad and it is a single product, the Venture.
Understanding that iPad users are clamoring for a good case that also converts into a stand the company has produced the Venture to “…answer the demand for a better iPad stand”.
The case is crafted out of a black polyurethane material with green accent piping. The iPad slips easily into the case which can then be used to protect the device and make it easier to use by easily transforming into a stand. As the company explains
This stand “stands out” from the competition because it offers multiple viewing angles, allowing the user to determine the appropriate angle for any environment. It’s useful, practical and also protects the iPad from daily wear and tear.
The Venture will be available later today from www.case-mate.com and will have an MSRP of $89.99.
On the upside, the case actually looks rather good while providing a stand.
On the DOWN side, it’s $80.00, which puts it in the upper range of case/stand combos, which include the Sena leather cases.
By the way, how’s that Gelaskin and SwitchEasy Nude working for you and your iPad?
Haesslich- I agree in theory but will be better able to address that when a review unit comes in the next few days. Also Sena has updated the Folio a bit recently. I’ll be getting a unit to compare the refinements of the updated one to the original
I had to remove the Gelaskin so I could try other cases which bummed me out a bit but I can say that the SwitchEasy Nude is awesome. While I’ve been on vacation it has been the case I have used most since it is thin and light and I don’t need to be carrying the iPad from place to place.
Finally, I also bought a Dodocase recently and will do a review of it in the next few days.
Nice to have a host of good case options available these days!!
Dan – while $80.00 isn’t the $200.00 for a Vaja, it’s still more expensive than the incase or similar-style cases that provide similar functionality, which makes me wonder if Case-Mate’s actually looked at the market. Especially as I recall the Sena Folio and Zipbooks being decent for a lesser price point than this one.
As for the Gelaskin, it’s advantage is that it’s easy to put on and remove – if you’re using the Nude as the primary shell, there’s no reason to NOT put the Gelaskin on under it.

You don’t think I tried that before removing it??? Didn’t work.
Odd. Given the way the Nude clips on (the retaining edges in the corner go over the bezel), I didn’t see any reason why it wouldn’t (as it does with the iPod Touch).
It was a bit too thick and the case clips on VERY tightly with zero give. Maybe it would have clipped around if I had tried to force the sides to clip around but when you try to force something like that it never ends up good in the long run.
Perhaps this will be the iPad case that makes me happy? http://tinyurl.com/26e7gun
